Birth Spacing - Just us for 2 years

Moms and babies are healthier if there are at least 2 years from the birth of a baby until Mom gets pregnant again; because of this, the Public Health Nurses working in Contra Costa County are leading a program to spread the word about healthy birth spacing.

What is Birth Spacing?
Birth spacing refers to the amount of time between births and/or pregnancies.
Birth Spacing Terms
- A birth-to-pregnancy interval is the amount of time from the birth of a baby until the mom gets pregnant again.
- Short birth spacing is used to describe a birth-to-pregnancy interval that is less than 2 years.
What is healthy birth spacing?
Moms and babies are healthier if there are at least 2 years before Mom gets pregnant again.
Why is this an important topic?
Information we have about Contra Costa County shows that women are having children closer together than 2 years, which puts them at risk for problems.
